Memories of my childhood always return each year erratically spread throughout the season when certain triggers, usually smells, flood memories and tears of Joy back. Christmas Eve service at the Christian Church in Boone (the old sanctuary) is the most frequent. The whole family, including extended family on occasion, pack the pews and hear the real pipe organ as many favorite carols are sang and then the candle that each member of the audience holds are lit from the center row as the perfect glow grows and perfect light fills the space. The glow from outside on the fabulous stained glass windows and the warmth from each candle inside meld together with the warmth from each family member gathered to bring the greatest Christmas Eve Ever!
